To improve customer service, increase employee effectiveness, and retain and recruit the best people, Safi Airways has adopted Bamboozle’s realMail Business Email and realDocs.. Dubai and Kabul-based Safi Airways Co. is the first and largest privately owned airline from Afghanistan. It is a subsidiary of the Safi Group and was founded in 2006 by its current chairman and CEO, Ghulam Hazrat Safi. The airline has its headquarters in Shahr-e-Naw, Kabul, Afghanistan, an administrative office in the Dubai Airport Free Zone, and a downtown ticketing office in Deira, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It is the first Afghan airline to operate in compliance with European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) requirements, IOSA (IATA Operational Safety Audit) and ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization).

Rethink IT Delivery

When Safi Airways had to upgrade its email system, it took the opportunity to rethink how it delivered the IT services that underlay nearly every employee and customer experience. The airline decided that owning and running servers was not the best use of its time and budget. Also the complexity of self hosted Microsoft Exchange was questioned.

Safi Airways also wanted to give employees a better portfolio of technology tools that they could use to work in more modern, innovative ways. “We had all kinds of older tools that didn’t talk to one another and couldn’t be used to communicate with partners. We wanted to empower employees to solve problems faster, help customers at every point, and contribute their ideas,” says Abdul Zahoor Himayat, IT Manager at the Airline.

Gain Spam-Free Email

Safi Airways decided to unplug its expensive email and file-share servers and throw away its mix of document-sharing tools. In their place, it gave employees Bamboozle realDocs – it’s cloud based Implementation of Zimbra Enterprise and realDocs, a dedicated, fully Safi Airways branded Enterprise File Sharing solution based on Nextcloud.

Safi Airways pilots, gate agents, mechanics, and office staff now have anytime, any-device access to their email and file at any size, which helps keep everyone on the same page. realMail filters all email for spam and malware to help keep communications more secure.

Full Service, No Stops

Bamboozle also took care of the migration, helping to get all data moved quickly and downtime to zero. Within just two weeks, Saif Airways was able to shut down their Exchange and File Servers and rely purely on Bamboozle’s cloud.

In the process also all websites and reservation system were moved to securely hosted and managed Servers from Bamboozle.
